Hey party people! Well, I survived the Alice Cooper show and The Pismo Moto session with the boys and I’m now suffering through the week, counting the hours until my birthday party weekend begins!

The Alice Cooper show was packed and my band Jetboy took the stage at 8 o’clock and completely destroyed it, delivering one of our best sets to date! Great sound and lighting with a huge stage, and we were treated great by Alice and his crew. Alice put on a great show and at 61-yrs old showed no signs of slowing down or mellowing out! This tour features many old classics such as opening song, “Schools Out,” “18,” “Only Women Bleed,” “Welcome to My Nightmare” and many others. And Alice is killed three times during the show – (guillotine, hanging and lethal injection…)! He took the time to hang out with us at the end of the night to chat and told us he enjoyed our set. We got some fun pictures with him and he also signed my original “Welcome To My Nightmare” LP.

I was back to work on Friday still reeling with excitement from the mid-week party, with piles of work to catch up on. After a long day it was straight home to rest up for Saturday’s excursion up to the Pismo Beach sand dunes for some pure adrenaline riding! There were six of us from the Lip Service crew and on our 250 and 400 cc Quads, we spent four hours blazing through the dunes.

We blasted over every sick jump we could find and organized some race courses to compete against each other for the sheer rush! Only one of us got hurt (not too bad), and I crashed one time leaving my quads steering bent, although I roosted it for the rest of the day anyway! Great day and great bonding experience for a group of us that have worked very hard to develop the new “Service” menswear line in a matter of weeks, in order to make the deadline for Spring delivery. We all got to know each other a little better and just enjoyed the “Dude” thing! Pismo is a beautiful place and makes for a fun exciting day. I highly recommend checking it out!

Well I’m off now to get ready for a photo shoot with my brand new Psychobilly band, “Cold Blue Rebels,” featuring members from the Zeros and Glamour Punks. Formed only 2 months ago, we will soon be ready to start booking shows, but more on that next week!

Until then -  keep it sleazy, work hard, play harder and remember…Fashion+Music=Life!

Hey Gang!

Week 2 in the Mickey chronicles finds me racing to finish work at
the Lip Service headquarters today. I am due in San Francisco tomorrow for a gig with
my band JETBOY, who are opening for Alice Cooper at the famous Warfield
Theater!!!

As Halloween is my Birthday, October is always a fun month and
this year is holding true to that!! We just finished a meeting with the
think tank of guys involved in the new Menswear line, “SERVICE,” and discussed
the next round of graphic design ideas. The whole bunch of us are going with
the owner of Lip Service up to Pismo this weekend to ride quad ATV’s out in the sand
dunes! So, next week I should have some fun pictures of us blazing and shots
of Jetboy live plus me with Alice Cooper!!! (I hope).

The warehouse sale this weekend was fun as always and DJ XIAN did a great job of stimulating people to spend $$. Tons of cool freaks came thru and good vibes were had
by all!

I’ll end the month with my birthday celebration where me and my crew
will pile into my girlfriends Hearse dressed in the theme of Zombie
Apocalypse Road Warriors and head out to the Rob Zombie/ Nekromantix concert
at the Palladium!!!

I love my life! And you should, too! Don’t talk about it, manifest it!! I want it all, and I want it now, and then I want some more!!! Fashion+Music+Life!!!! Lip Service Rules!!

That’s all until next week freaks!!

Luv Ya,
Mickey Finn

Mickey’s Corner!

Wednesday, October 14th, 2009 by Mickey Finn

Hey Fashion Freaks! Mickey here with the lead off to my weekly column focused on my adventures as a Lip Service employee, and vocalist for indie glam punk legends JETBOY!!

First a quick rundown, I have been close friends with the owner of Lip Service (Drew Bernstein) since the early 80’s when we would storm the scene in LA and SF with outrageous homemade outfits combining the best elements from the punk and rock n’ roll world with our own twists such as “Mad Max” thrown in! My music career kicked in to gear when my band Jetboy signed a deal with a major label and at the same time Drew launched Lip Service, which exploded as the “it” brand for bands and scenesters. Touring with JB thru the early 90’s and then as DJ Meilo, I found myself bouncing around the world till 2006 when I came back to LA and began working here at our favorite clothing company Lip Service!!!

I worked sales for the East Coast territory for 2 years and now in my 3rd year handle the West Coast, Australia, New New Zealand, Asia and Western Canada. I am also the occasional Lip Service model and the creative director of our new Menswear line “SERVICE”. I produced a Lip Service Fashion show on July 4th this year at Bar Sinister in LA and have worked to sponsor numerous bands such as Ministry, Papa Roach, Kommunity FK and New York Dolls, to name a few. My life is a none stop whirlwind of excitement and I will do my best to pass along to you the highlights of my travels!

I have just returned from 2 weeks of back to back sales trips for Lip Service. Week 1 I drove to Arizona servicing stores in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Tucson and Mesa. I carry 2 seasons worth of samples for our “Holiday” [ed note: click here - available for PreOrders!] and “Spring” 2010 lines, and take orders as I go. If you’re ever there, Hydra in Tucson and Fetish Falls in Mesa are great stores to shop at!

Came back to LA for the weekend and then left on Monday for Colorado to find some unexpected early SNOW!!! I made my rounds to stores in Denver, Boulder, Colorado Springs and Lakewood and ended the week on Friday with an in-store promotional appearance at Fashion Nation, a great Denver clothing store that hosted a signing/meet and great with KMFDM, who would play later that night at the landmark Gothic Theater.

Its always great promoting the Lip Service brand and getting to meet and hang out with our customers! I hooked the band up with some LS clothes and arranged with their tour manager for the band to come to the LS warehouse when they get to LA for more goodies! Also on the tour is Angelspit both bands were super cool and took the time to talk with all of the fans who came out. Paul the owner of Fashion Nation has been supporting bands that come to Denver for many years and did a great job promoting this event. Later that night found me heading to the show with temperatures dropping below freezing!! Once inside the bands quickly warmed things up delivering powerful performances, Angelspit looking good with all there gadgets and tweaked out sounds, and KMFDM destroying the packed house with career favorites and new material featuring their ultra hottie new female member Lucia Cifarelli!

Now back at LS headquarters we are preparing for the big warehouse sale this weekend, what can I say the fun never stops!! Until next time work hard, party harder and sleep little!!!

Take it Sleazy!

Jacoby from Papa Roach kickin’ it at Lip Service

Thursday, April 24th, 2008 by WebMistress

One of the constants at Lip Service, no matter what the decade, is their great relationship with the musicians who love to wear Lippy gear. Yesterday, we in the web crew happened to be in the house when Jacoby from Papa Roach stopped in to say hey to Mickey Finn (Lippy artists’ contact, lead singer of Jetboy) and pick up some new clothes.

As you can see from the photo, Jacoby loved his Mortician Mayhem (Stretch F**k’n Twill) jacket so much, he wanted to rock it right away, already working out how he’d embelish it and make it his own.
